Geocache Description:

This is an ammo can cache placed with permission (from zarthustra) at an old landmark. One of the few Inns on the Federal Register of Historical places that is still operating as a full service facility.

The old Franklin hotel was built in 1907 by James Fulton "Jeff"Buck. A native of south Carolina, in the cracker style. It was originally built as a hotel and not a private residence, with over thirty guest rooms. The Franklin Hotel was renamed in 1923 after being purchased by Annie Gibson Hayes and her sister Mary Ellen Gibson. The hotel was then rebuilt in 1985 . The hotel is rumored to be haunted. You can ask for the Captains room 309. Visitors once arrived by steamboat one such boat was the S.S. Tarpon .The Captain was a sea faring gent by the last name of Wood. Capt. wood was a frequent guest of the inn, during one of his stays he became ill and passed away in room 309 . Guest report being tucked into bed by unseen hands and objects that are left on the bed are removed.!
