This is a 7 mile paved regional trail through steep terrain within the Mountains to Sound Greenway. It retraces a historic railroad route with gentle grades ideal for walking, running and bicycling.
The demolition of a historic railroad trestle in Preston provides one exception where the route detours into the Raging River Valley before climinging again to the shorth side of Snoqualmie Ridge.
The trail continues along the ridge through secluded woodlands with exceptional views of the Snoqualmie River Valley and ends with a viewpoint overlooking Snoqualmie Falls. The trail is linked to Snoqualmie Ridge via City of Snoqualmie soft-surface community trails.
This cache was placed as part of the 30th Anniversary Celebration of the use of Conservation Futures. Since 1982, King County had partnered with cities, nonprofit groups and civic leaders to protect 111,000 acres of land from development including 99,000 acres of Cascade foothills; 3,200 acres of urban greenbelts and parks; 4 miles of Puget Sound shoreline; 4,700 acres of riparian habitat on rivers and creeks; and leveraged $150 million in matching funds.
