Geocache Description:

You have never seen the beauty of Buena Vista until you visit this place

Buena Vista was founded in the late 1800s primarily by one man, Benjamin C. Moomaw. First he founded a town named Green Forest with only a simple tannery, but after the railroads were built in 1880, he began dreaming of a much larger city. He secured several other businesses, including a pulp mill and a canning factory, but still needed more to grow the city. In 1882 the first industry was built – Appold & Sons Tannery. In early 1888 several other industries opened. The town was on its way. By the end of 1888, the Buena Vista Company had been organized and began selling stock. It took only 30 days for all the stock to be sold for a total of $400,000. With the sale completed, it was time to lay out the town and begin recruiting people and industries. The name was changed to Buena Vista at that time and it initially consisted of 13,140 acres. Buena Vista was granted its Charter as a town by the State in January of 1890 and building began popping up everywhere. There were hotels, churches, businesses, railroads and most importantly homes and people. On February 15, 1892, after much prosperity, the State granted a Charter for Buena Vista as a City. Buena Vista had arrived.    The Cache is loacted in or near a shelter and it sometimes has events going on so watch out for muggles. The park closes at dark. Congratulations to draley FTF!!
