Geocache Description:

This cache is a small sealed plastic container in a waterproof camo bag within the access managed area of Bute Park. This cache is only accessable between the park opening time of 7:30am and the park closing time 30 minutes before the national published sunset time which can be found here. The cache is not wheelchair accessable but not impossible for those users willing to negociate obstacles.

A pencil has been supplied and there is room for small items & trackables.

Please place the cache EXACTLY as you found it

There are many different routes to the cache from the North, South and East. All of which take you through a wildly grown area of the park on paths trodden in by those who crave adventure and act on curiosity. The path from the North is easily accessable slightly southward of the Eastern side of the Blackweir bridge and can be considered to be the easiest route to take. There are many access routes from the tarmac path on the Eastern side which also offer a shorter journey to the cache. The scenic route from the South however can be accessed just North West of the Summerhouse Cafe along the river's bank and offers a more challenging terrain. The journey to the cache from either of these directions should take no longer than 10-15 minutes and does have the potential to get your shoes caked so do take precautions.

This cache has been placed in an area which I believe is Bute Park's truly secret garden. As you trek through this overgrown part of the park you feel truly lost amongst the woodland trees and hedgery that form it. Those visiting Bute Park for the day are highly encouraged to visit this area, if not for the cache, then for the pleasant atmosphere. There is parking nearby located across the river downstream just South of the SWALEC cricket stadium. This cache is a great pit stop on the way to or from Blackweir bridge which is located not two minutes upriver, and at some times of year one can get a pleasant view of the falls from the shore itself.
