Geocache Description:

Photobucket

Located along the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) where it crosses Highway 2 near the entrance to the Blue Ridge Truck Trail, this is a quick and easy off-trail grab with convenient access from the PCT.

Nearby, you’ll find a Water Cache for PCT backpackers, a much-needed stop where water is scarce for many miles along Section D of the trail. Although this cache isn’t listed on the official water report, it typically serves hikers between sections D3 and D4 (link). It would be generous for us geocachers to contribute by dropping off a few gallons of water to help those on the trail.

On a clear day, the nearby Inspiration Point offers incredible views, especially when fog drifts through Vincent’s Gulch below. You’ll also catch spectacular sights of Mt. Baldy and Mt. Baden-Powell, perfect for a photo op.

Keep in mind, this is critter country. Snakes are occasionally spotted along the trail, so never reach into dark areas and always use a stick to stir things up first. I’ve been out here many times and have only seen one, an absolutely beautiful Mountain Kingsnake.

The original GZ was vegetation-free. The September 2024 Bridge Fire devastated much of this area, leading to closures from Wrightwood to the Baden-Powell trailhead. The destruction was unimaginable. Thankfully, as of early October 2025, the area has reopened and is once again accessible.
