Csónakázó-tó

Öblök, szigetek és félszigetek, hidak, esőbeállók és gyalogösvények teszik vadregényessé a Sárvár közepén elterülő ritka szépségű tavat. Zölddel gazdagon borított partja mind gyalogosan, mind a tavon evezve nagyszerű látványt is nyújt a tiszta levgőjű környezetben. Szabadtéri sütés-főzés is megoldható a kijelölt tűzrakó helyeken. A tó partján játszótér szórakoztatja a kicsiket, valamint sportpályák, focikapu méretű beton "rúgófal", pingpongasztalok és teniszpálya is találató itt a nagyobbak örömére. Az egykori kiváló KRESZ-park azonban sajnos elhanyagolt állapotú. A termálfürdő és a kemping is a tó közvetlen közelében helyezkedik el.

Télen, megfelelően vastag jégpáncél kialakulása után a tó teljes felülete szabadon korcsolyázható, ki is használják ezt a közel és távolabb lakók egyaránt.

Története

1908-ban, a mai Alkotmány úti lakótelep és a Mentőállomás helyén épült fel Krausz József vállalkozása, a Sárvári Új Téglagyár. Az itt használt téglavetőkön olvasható S.U.T. mongram a gyár nevéből származik. Az agyagot a szomszédos bányagödrökből termelték ki. A télagyár az 1960-as évek végéig üzemelt és mintegy 50-60 embernek adott munkát.

Az 1970-es években ezekből az agyaggödrökből alakították ki a helybelek társadalmi munkájával a Csónakázó-tavt. Kicsi voltam még, de jól emlékszem, hogy családostul többször sétáltunk ekkortájt a gödröknél és még szárazon bennük is. A vízutánpótlást a Gyöngyös patakból az Aranyos-éren keresztül oldották meg.

A tórendszer környezetében jelentkező karantartási feladatok, a fűnyírás, a nádvágás, a zsilipek karbantartása mellett a közelmúltban a Városszépítő Egyesülettel együttműködve számos fejlesztés, beruházás is történt. Több száz méter hosszúsáú kavicsozott sétányt építettek ki és megoldották a tó déli oldalának a földdel való eltöltését, a part magasítását.

Horgászat

A tó kiváló horászhely születésétől kezdve mind a mai napig, hála a rendszeres és gazdag telepítéseknek. Rengeteg itteni szép horgászélmény idéződik fel bennem is. A leggyakoribb nemes hal a ponty és a süllő, de fogható itt amur, csuka és harcsa is, valamint tekintélyes méretű évérkeszegek és kárászok. Aljzata agyagos, homokos, egyenletes, csak kevés helyen akadós, főleg a szomszédos erdő egykori tuskói miatt a tó hátsó részén. A tó átlagos vízmélysége 140-150 cm.

A láda

Figyelem! A láda nem a fenti koordinátákon található! A megjelölt helyen a csónakkölcsönzőt találod és szükséged is lesz a szolgáltatás igénybevételére vagy valamilyen más vízi jármű használatára a láda megkereséséhez, ugyanis ez egy víz alatti láda és a tóban tilos a fürdés. A láda megkaparintásához nem kell kiszállnod a csónakból és a tartószerkezetnek köszönhetően nem is leszel nagyon vizes, alacsony vízállásnál pedig talán teljesen szárazon is megúszhatod. Télen, járhatóan vastag jég mellett a ládát akár gyalog is megközelíteted, fölé is állhatsz, mégsem javaslom ilyenkor a megkeresését, mert a jég feltörése vagy lékek kivágása lenne szükséges, ez pedig nagy feltűnést keltene és a rengeteg gyermek miatt biztonság kockázatokat is rejt.

Boating Lake

Bays, islands and peninsulas, bridges, shelters and walking paths create a romantic atmosphere around the lake of rare beauty in the middle of Sárvár. Its banks are richly covered in green, they provide a great view while walking around the lake or while rowing in the clean air environment. Outdoor cooking can be arranged at the installed fireplaces. At the lakeside a playground entrtains the little ones but there are also sports fields, a football goal sized concrete wall for ball exercises, table tennis tables and tennis courts for the delight of bigger cildren and grown-ups. A former excellent traffic park is, however, in a neglected state. The spa and the campsite are also lcated very close to the lake.

In winter, after ice formation of appropriate thickness, the entire lake surface is available for skating, which is utilized happily by people livin nearby or coming here from elsewhere.

History

In 1908, the area of the present Alkotmány Road housing estate and the Rescue Station provided the place where József Krausz's business, the famous New Brick Factory of Sárvár (Sárvári Új Téglagyár) was built. Bricks produced by them had the abbreviation S.U.T., this is derived from the initials of the factory. The clay was extracted from the adjacent strip mine holes. The brick factory was in operation untl the end of 1960's and it provided jobs for 50-60 people.

In the 1970s these clay holes were converted to a Boating Lake, mostly by the social work of residents. I was a little kid but I remember that we walked by and in these clay holes several times with the fmily at that time. The water is supplied by the Gyöngyös stream through the Aranyos streamlet.

In addition to the necessary maintenance tasks around the lake (mowing the lawn, reed cutting, maintenance of flood gates), a number of developments and investments have been realized recently in collaoration with the City Beautification Association. Several hundred meters of gravel walkway have been built and they have found a solution for filling the south side of the lake coast with soil and thus heightenin the coast.

Fishing

The lake has been an excellent place or fishing since its birth, thanks to the rich and reular fish insertions. I can recall memories of many nice fishing experiences from my childhood. The most precious fish are the carp and the perch but you can catch grass carp, pike and catfish as well and there are lots of sizeable bream and crucian instances in the lake. The bed of the lake is clayey, sany and smooth, there are only a few former underwater stumps in the back part of the lake due to the nearby forests. The average lake depth is 140-150 cm.

The cache

Warning! The cache is not at the above coordinates! They point to the boat rental office and the pier. You will need that service or you will have to use some other watercraft because this is an underwater geocache and swimming in the lake is proibited. There is no need to leave the boat to grab the cache and you won't get too wet, thanks to the supporting mechanism. If the water level is low, you may even get away staying completely dry. In winter, it may be possble to walk to the cache over the thick ice and stand above the box. In spite of this, seeking the cache at these icy times is not recommended because you would need to break the ice or cut a leak or two in it, which would make a stir and it would present security risks, too, due to the many children.
