Geocache Description:

Easy two-stage multi-cache.

The area around the village of Milton Bryan is criss-crossed with footpaths. Whilst following a circular walk, I noticed a strange stone structure. I couldn’t work out what it was and asked the villagers during a village wine-tasting evening (it’s a fun village). Consensus was that this odd artefact was a Bison scratching post – presumably for a bison herd belonging to the Duke of Bedford. I’ve no idea if this is true and would be interested to hear your suggestions, or if anybody knows for certain.

You can park on the road in the village and walk down to the start of the footpath picking up the Milton Bryan church micro GC339J3 on the way. Alternatively there is room for 1 car at the waypoint marking the start of the footpath provided you don't block the gate to the field. The footpath takes you through a mysterious looking piece of woodland reminiscent of something out of Lord of the Rings.

To work out the location of the final cache, look at the stone structure and count the number of arms. A=number of arms

Final Cache Location: N51 58.1(A+3)8 W 000 35.1(A-3)(A+4)

The route to the structure runs along the edge of the field and can be a little uneven and grassy.

You need to retrace your steps back to the footpath from the stone structure once you have worked out the cache coordinates as the final location is close to a public footpath.

The final cache contains my travel bug, Elegant Ted, who wants to embark on his travels, trinkets and a FTF certificate for the first person to discover the cache.

Happy caching.
