A straightforward hide on a 4x4 high clearance vehicle trail
Come up along the Sawmill Trail for fantastic views and a cache almost at the top! We saw Mountain Bluebirds, Scrub jays, hawks and goldfinches.
There is a spring near by that runs into a small pond. You will see a brick and stone charcoal kiln on your way and some abandoned, rusting equipment.
The cache is a plastic nut container that we found near the base of the seasonal waterfall. It contains a small logging sheet and a few bits and pieces. Cash for the FTF and a couple of my personal pathtags.
The cache is hidden at the base of a tree between a large rock and a fallen rotten stump. Try to reach it from the west side as the pile of pinecones have very sharp points and can hurt.
It is possible to go beyond the Kiln parking area to park right by the cache and even if very daring to continue on to the top of the mountain and join the Santa Rosa Trail where you can find another of my caches http://coord.info/GC2K4F2 Raven at Sunset Rock and then there are all the SRTT caches too. There is an archived cache http://coord.info/GC1VVZK Saw Mill Trail View near but I couldn't find it!
