A series of 12 stand alone caches set in the beautiful Kilburn Woods owned by the Forestry Commission and jointly managed by The North York Moors National Park ranger services.
The Lime and Ice project was created in 2008 and creates opportunities for people to learn about, explore and enjoy the landscape heritage of the south-west corner of the North York Moors National Park and the northern part of the adjoining Howardian Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).

Lime and Ice #1 The thieves Highway, It is said that this ancient path was used by thieves and rustlers to steal stock from the ancient drovers who used to use the nearby Hambleton Drove road to drive livestock from the north to markets as far south as London! Take care down the steep path as it can be very slippery when wet. Please do not leave the path as the cache can be reached from the path, do not damage any of the vegetation or landscape.
There is a small parking charge at the National Park visitor Center. Refreshment available/ toilets available. Free parking is available at the White Horse of Kilburn and Kilburn woods.
Please replace the container carefully, and DO NOT USE STICK-O FLARGE OR STONES.
