On September 8, 2010, to the 69th anniversary of the victims of the Leningrad blockade, the monument to the children of the blockade was unveiled in the park, known as the Apple garden.
The garden was founded in 1953 by students of the school № 34 on the initiative of a teacher of biology Anfisa Nikolaevna Semenova-Tyan-Shanskaya. The students, many of whom have experienced the blockade, planted apple and other fruit trees in memory of their peers and all of Leningrad people, who died during the blockade and the World War II. Within three years, they collected the first harvest. Since apples are traditionally treated to first-graders. Jam of apples from own garden was a favorite delicacy at school celebrations.
All these years, children from neighboring schools cared for garden. Every year on September 8 here is meeting in memory of the victims of the Leningrad blockade with a minute of silence and the laying of flowers.
In 2009, the head of the district administration supported the request of the blockade and graduates of the 34th School for the restoration of the garden. It was also agreed that there should be a monument to the children of the besieged city. Money for the work was allocated by the city.

8 сентября 2010 года, в 69-ую годовщину памяти жертв ленинградской блокады в сквере, что на улице Наличной, 55, известном как Яблоневый или Анфисин сад, был открыт памятник Детям блокады.
Сад был заложен в1953 году учениками школы № 34 по инициативе учительницы биологии Анфисы Николаевны Семеновой-Тян-Шанской. Яблони и другие плодовые деревья дети, многие из которых сами пережили блокаду, высадили в память о своих сверстниках и всех ленинградцах, погибших в годы блокады и Великой Отечественной войны. Уже через три года собрали первый урожай. С тех пор яблоками традиционно угощали новоиспеченных первоклассников, варенье из собственного сада было любимым лакомством на школьных торжествах.
Все эти годы за садом ухаживали ребята из окрестных школ. Каждый год 8 сентября здесь проходит митинг памяти с минутой молчания и возложением цветов.
В 2009 году глава районной администрации поддержал просьбу блокадников и выпускников 34-й школы о реставрации сада. Тогда же было принято решение о том, что здесь должен появиться памятник детям блокадного города. Деньги на проведение работ выделил город.
И вот теперь среди яблонь стоит окруженная цветами фигурка худенькой девочки в валенках на фоне замерзшего блокадного окна.
