Geocache Description:

Due to Greenshoots going off to tackle the spiders and snakes down under, Trottie True (clever cache containers extraordinaire) has agreed to lend her expertise to help keep you entertained on the second 'V is for Vogrie meet'! The purpose of the day is to put names to faces and to catch up with friends old and new and hopefully introduce some ‘newbies’ to caching.

Paul the Ranger is aiming to publicise the event in the hope that 'Newbies' will come along. We will be down near the big house in a gazebo, We can't give exact co ords due to not knowing exactly where the gazebo will be, between 12.00 – 2.00pm to welcome anybody who would like to give caching ago and to meet up with other cachers. We would be very grateful if other cachers could help out with showing any 'newbies' who turn up, what the people who dive behind trees are really up to! There will be a non loggable cache nearby that cachers will be able to take muggles to whilst explaining how geocaching works. If you can help with this then, please let us know. What we did forget to mention last year is to remember your £1.00 for parking! Tokens need to be purchased at the machine BEFORE you get to the barrier, the token works the barrier. At Vogrie there is a cafe where teas, coffees and light snacks are available to purchase. We can't promise good weather, and there may be quite a bit of mud involved in places, so bring suitable footwear. Cache hounds are welcome, although are not allowed to play in the playparks! INFO There are 11.5 miles of signed footpaths passing through sweeping parkland, woodlands and the River Tyne Valley. There are also two playparks, one near the car parking and another further down. A link to Vogrie country park http://www.midlothian.gov.uk/info/200142/vogrie_country_park Thanks to the kind permission of the Mid Lothian Ranger Service there will hopefully be new permanent caches for you to find any time during the day. We are also hoping that as long as the weather is ok, the mini train will be running between 2.00 and 4.00 this year. The cost I think is a £1.00, but this is not definite as its been a while since we last were on it so it might have gone up! Please do not find/log these caches before the day of the event to make it fair for all
