BlackRose67: Due to the ongoing construction of the new commercial plaza, and as of this afternoon, the continuing lack of an access road to the snow dump, I've decided to archive the cache.

It looks like a new park with a large pond is being built on the south side of McKenna Casey, so this will free up the area for a cache there in the future.

How Geocaching Works

Geocache Description:

A straightforward cache on the grounds outside of the Barrhaven snow dump.

The grounds outside the facility are used by people walking their dogs (or is that dogs walking their people?).

A short hike to the southern end of the facility will lead you to the GZ.

Depending on the time of day or night you visit, you may get to see the VIA train heading to Toronto or coming back from Toronto.

When placed, the cache contained two pencils, a log sheet, and two travel bugs with zero mileage.
The cache is large enough for small trades and trackable items.

NOTE: There is a lot of poison parsnip along the embankments.
For that reason, stay on the low side of the embankment if at all possible, until you get near the GZ.

Since this is an active snow dump during the winter months, there could be lots of truck traffic on the extension of Kennevale Drive, so plan your visit accordingly if you plan on visiting in the winter months.

It is possible to access the GZ from McKenna Casey Drive, but I wouldn't recommend it due to the proximity to the railway tracks and fencing. The distance to the cache from McKenna Casey Drive is pretty close to the distance if accessed from the Kennevale Drive extension.
