Geocache Description:

Het gebied Woensel-Noord is ingedeeld in vier wijken en 21 buurten.

Vaartbroek is een buurt in de wijk Dommelbeemd, in het stadsdeel Woensel-Noord in de Nederlandse stad Eindhoven.

In 1368 was sprake van de (verafgelegen) hoeve Verrenbroec, in tegenstelling tot het (nabije) Begijnenbroek. De eerste naam is verbasterd tot Vaartbroek. In de huizentelling van 1736 was Vaartbroek een gehucht van 10 huizen en daarmee destijds het kleinste van de 11 Woenselse gehuchten.

In Vaartbroek is een buurtwinkelcentrum met meer dan 25 winkels en een bibliotheek gevestigd. Tevens is er een groot gezondheidscentrum. Dit buurtwinkelcentrum vormt niet alleen het hart van de buurt Vaartbroek, maar ook van de wijk Dommelbeemd. Centraal in de buurt ligt het Amandelpark dat in 2007 geheel gerenoveerd is. In dit park zijn meerdere spelvoorzieningen voor kinderen en jeugd en er is een klein dierenpark. De buurt is opgebouwd in de jaren 60 van de 20e eeuw. In de buurt zijn zowel koop- als huurwoningen aanwezig.

The area Woensel-Noord is divided into four districts and 21 neighborhoods.
Vaartbroek is a neighborhood in the District of Dommelbeemd, in the city part Woensel-Noord in the Dutch city of Eindhoven.


In 1368, there was the (distant) Verrenbroec farm, in contrast to the (nearby) Begijnenbroek. The first name is degenerated to Vaartbroek. In the census of 1736 Vaartbroek was a hamlet of 10 houses and thus the smallest of the 11 hamlets of Woensel.

In Vaartbroek there is a shopping center with over 25 shops, which also houses a library. There is also a large healthcare cantre. This shopping center is not only the heart of the neighborhood Vaartbroek, but also of the district Dommelbeemd. Centrally located is the Amandelpark, which in 2007 was completely renovated. In this park there are several play facilities for children and youth, and there is a small animal park. The neighborhood was built in the 60s of the 20th century. In the neighborhood both sale and rental houses are present.
