Geocache Description:

Wavebreak is a man-made island protecting the Gold Coast Broadwater. It's a popular place for boating and camping. Sadly some members of our community do not look after it as they should when they use it. This event will help clean up the trash spoiling this beautiful location.

Council bins are provided, so the plan is to do a clean up around the island and leave the rubbish in or next to the bins for later collection.

Wavebreak Island is the current site for the Gold Coast's proposed Cruise Ship Terminal. So come and enjoy it while it's still undeveloped. There will also be a few caches to find with interesting D/T ratings.

We'll meet from 10am at the published coordinates and start the CITO at around 11am. If the wind has any westerly aspect we'll meet at the alternative location, as it will we more sheltered there.  We will provide shade, a table for any trackables and some snags-n-bread to cook up on a portable BBQ after the clean up. Bring drinking water and extra food if you don't like snags. Don't forget your sunblock and hat. If you don't want to sit on the sand, bring a foldable chair too.

To get  to Wavebreak you will need a boat, canoe or other watercraft. Do not even think about swimming over!

Parking is at the end of the Spit, or at the boat ramp in front of The Grand Hotel in Labrador.
