Geocache Description:

A park and grab at the Coketon coke oven site.

I've been spending some time exploring the North Fork Canyon and photographing waterfalls.  To get there, you drive down the abandoned railroad grade, through what used to be Coketon, and past the remains of the 400 coke ovens that used to operate there.  The road is remote and rough so imagine my suprise to find a tiny park with historical signs along it suddenly popping up.  I decided it would be a nice place for an easy cache while on the way to the more challenging caches farther down the trail and in the canyon.

The road is rough but passable if you take your time.  I've been all the way to Douglas Falls in my Fiesta several times.  Look for the gravel road branching off from Douglas Road.  There's an old wooden gate at the beginning.  There is a sign across the road saying, "Rail Falls Road".

The cache has been replaced and is no longer a nano. The cache is not in the ovens so there's no need to damage them.

Update: The road had been repaired and graveled.
