Geocache Description:

A paddle-to cache on the Millstone River. Do not try to access this cache by land. It would be illegal and dangerous and you would have to swim to the cache anyway. You can paddle downstream from Millstone Road or upstream from just north of Route 1 if you are doing the whole trail (see GC3VKP2 for parking near Route 1).

I was out paddling the Millstone River with 4wheelin_fool and we had a fun time trying to paddle upstream in this area through the "rapids" in the tunnel under the train tracks. We had to get out and walk upstream through the shallow but strong current, but you could also carry your boat through the next tunnel over which was pretty dry when we were there. I walked up past the rapids and got back into my boat and had to paddle fast to avoid getting swept back downstream. Mark was just behind me but after I exited the tunnel I heard some yelling and looked back in the tunnel. Mark was nowhere to be seen, but I found him afterwards downstream a bit ;o) These might be the only actual rapids you encounter on this part of the river.

The cache is upstream from the tunnel and the rapids so if you launch from Millstone Road you can choose whether or not to shoot the rapids
