Geocache Description:

A paddle-to on the Millstone River. The cache is located a short distance from the launch area and parking on Mapleton Road. If you don't have a boat there is a canoe/kayak rental on Alexander Road where it crosses the D&R canal. You can easily get into Carnegie Lake there and cross over to this launch on the nearby pedestrian bridge.

This area was used as a mill pond in the eighteenth century. The area is now home to numerous turtles, beaver, and numerous waterfowl and wading birds, including ducks, geese, blue herons, egrets, and swans, but the cormorants seem to dominate, especially on the dead trees at the two islands here.

The cache is hidden at the edge of the smaller of two islands in the pond. You do not have to walk onto the island to retrieve the cache but you will have to get out of your boat. The water is currently only a few inches deep at the GZ, but could be higher in the spring. Beware of falling objects or liquids from above when you are in this area ;o)
