Spring Lake / Lake Desire Park is a 390-acre forested site with a bald rocky outcrop, a bog and three miles of trails situated between…Spring Lake and Lake Desire! Echo Mountain is the 900-foot rocky outcrop that provides great views of the two lakes and the Cascade foothills.
There is a bog along the west shore of Spring Lake which is also home to unique plants such as Labrador tea. This site is connected to over 1,000 acres of open space which also includes Wetland 14 Natural Area, McGarvey Park Open Space, Petrovitsky Park and nearby Peterson Lake Natural Area and Lake Youngs Park.
There are a total of 11 miles of trails. You will see sweeping views in the Lake Desire--Lake Desire complex. Maps are available at the Spring Lake Trailhead.
The Spring Lake-Lake Desire cache was originally placed by King County Conservation Futures as one of twenty caches in their GeoTour which, consequently, was the "first ever GeoTour in the state of Washington." King County's Conservation Futures program sponsored Washington's "first ever GeoTour" in celebration of their 30 year anniversary of Conservation Futures (1982-2012).
