Geocache Description:

La balise de la Sèche à l’Huile se trouve dans le golfe de Saint Tropez, Sainte Maxime et les Issambres dans le prolongement de la pointe des Sardinaux.
C’est un site de plongée avec des tombants tous azimuths, un plateau rocheux, une faune et une flore abondante.
Pourquoi "La Sèche à l'huile" ? Au début du siècle, une roche arrivait à fleur d'eau et les habitants de Sainte-Maxime y avait posé une lampe à huile pour éviter les échouages. Une telle roche porte le nom, en provençal de "sèche" pour sec sortant de l'eau et "huile" à cause de la lampe.

The marker of “La Sèche à l’Huile” is located in the gulf of Saint Tropez, Sainte Maxime and Issambres in line with the Pointe des Sardinaux.
This is a dive site with high depth all azimuths, a plateau, fauna and flora.
Why "La Sèche à l’Huile"? At the beginning of the century the rock was just at sea level and inhabitants of Sainte-Maxime had put an oil lamp to warn boats. Such a rock named in Provencal "Sèche" and "Huile" due to lamp

Les coordonnées du waypoint correspondent à la balise de la Sèche à l’Huile. en partant de la balise, en étant immergé à environ 5m sous la surface , se diriger au cap Nord sur une distance de 15 mètres (environ 13 coups de palme) . La cache se trouve à une profondeur d’environ 10 à 11 mètres, dans l’un des restes de la structure de l’ancienne lanterne ( voir photos spoiler, le schtroumpf plongeur indique l’emplacement de la boite). S’agissant d’une boite sous-marine le logbook est constitué de feuilles d’aluminium, le stylo est un clou pour graver le log. La boite est une boite plastique recouverte par le sable. Veillez à bien reposer son gardien salamandre dessus afin que la boite reste à sa place.

The waypoint coordinates indicate the marker “La Sèche à l’Huile”. Starting from the marker, being underwater about 5m below the surface, head to the North 15 meters (around 13 fin kicks) . The cache is located at a depth of about 10 to 11 meters in one of the remains of the structure of the old lantern (see photos spoiler, the diver smurf shows the location of the box). The logbook consists of the aluminum foil, a nail pen is to grave the log. The box is a plastic box covered with sand. Be sure to place back its guardian salamander above so that the box stays in its place

Bien entendu, ne plongez jamais seul. Bien que cette plongée soit accessible aux plongeurs certifiés de tous niveaux (niveau 1 inclus) , il est préférable de demander conseil aux plongeurs habitués de ce spot, voir de profiter des nombreuses palanquées organisées sur ce site par les différents clubs des alentours. Si vous n’êtes pas plongeur certifié, n’essayez pas d’atteindre ce spot.
This diving site is a very easy one, it is a training site for open water certification, but do not try to dive there if you are not certified diver. Additionaly, do not dive alone please ,and if you are not used to this site, it is anyway safer to dive with a diving center. Lots of local diving centers organise very frequently a dive there.
