The old Coast Guard (nee Lifesaving Service) boathouse is all that remains of the Bald Head Island station. The boathouse is the remaining structure of a six building complex including the station house, a kitchen, and other outbuildings. It was built in 1913 and converted to a residence in 1974. The rescue boats and later the Coast Guard patrol horses were kept here through the double doors.
Midway up the south beach road on Bald Head Island is the location of the old Lifesaving Station. The lavender road leads to this treasure. This buoy was used for mooring boats at anchorage.
