Geocache Description:

A cache in a great location giving amazing views over the Inca Trail

Dead Woman's Pass, also known as Warmiwañusca, is a location that you cannot miss if you are doing the classic Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. It is named after the view of a supine woman reclining at the top of the pass. You are likely to be walking over the pass on day 2 if you are doing the Inca Trail the traditional way. At 4200m high with a steep set of steps up to it you will need to be a dedicated geocacher to find the energy to go looking for this cache.

Most cachers will have time to go hunting though as this is a common spot for a rest as party members get their breath back at the top of the ridge. The cache is hidden up on a ridge to the left (as you are walking up the pass). As usual when you go off the Inca Trail you need to be careful where you step as off track some people go to the toilet! The cache is hidden well back off the trail to avoid this problem. You should find that you can follow an animal track almost all the way to the cache.

The cache is now a small pill bottle with a log only and space for small trackables. The cache will be maintained by a local guide who walks over Dead Woman's Pass nearly 10 times a year!
