Geocaching 101: How to Find a Geocache
Are you new to geocaching? Or have you been caching for a little while, but want to pick up some additional tips? Maybe you're an experienced geocacher who is willing to share your knowledge and team up with some beginners to lend a hand? Join us for Geocaching 101: How to Find a Geocache.
DATE: Sunday October 14, 2012
TIME: 2:00pm - 4:00pm
LOCATION: Fish Creek Public Library (at the posted coordinates above)
11161 Bonaventure Drive SE, Calgary Alberta, T2J 6S1
COST: Free!
We'll spend some time indoors going over the basics and then get out to test your newly acquired skills.
What we'll talk about:
1. A Brief History of Geocaching
2. Explain the cache types, containers and a few useful terms
3. Introduction to GPS and satellite technology
4. The cache page at geocaching.com
5. How to use Geocaching.com and how to log your finds
All are welcome. We hope to have plenty of beginners looking to learn more, but we will also have some experienced geocachers willing to team up with some new folks to help them around the beginner's course. We'd also appreciate some experienced cachers bringing GPS units so that new folks can borrow if they don't have one of their own.
The event is kid friendly - geocaching is an activity for the whole family.
Spread the word amongst your friends, family, and coworkers.
Come out and meet other geocachers - and you get a smiley to log on geocaching.com just for attending!
Hope to see you there.
