I'd like to have included some 'angelic' swaps but didn't have any ready. I'd love you to leave an angel to keep me company. You are seeking a 1 litre tin.
I'll prove an easy find, reclining angelically as I am! I urge you to leave your car at the little shelter and walk to me. You can't turn a vehicle, your paint will get scratched and besides, the 300m walk will be very good for your soul.
You will find yourself at Angels Rest Flora Reserve, a 5ha roadside reserve set aside in 1990. Variously called Paradise Lane and Angels Rest, this mallee remnant has been enjoyed by local families as a place of peace and serenity for generations. It contains an exceptionally diverse range of mallee flora, such as hakea tephrasperma and weeping pittosporum. If you're a keen birdo don't forget the binoculars; there are always many species here.
As you will have noticed, Angels Rest suffered terribly from the prolonged drought. Some plantation work on adjoining land has been funded by the Mallee CMA.
I note that some rabbit control work has recently been undertaken, unfortunately resulting in substantial damage to flora. It is to be hoped Angels Rest survives Parks Victoria's efforts at conservation.
Just south of here is the site of Kaneira West State School No. 3887 from 1913-1930 and 1938-1949. In 1967 the school building was transported to Swan Hill, restored and re-equipped as part of the Pioneer Settlement museum.
I hope you gained some inner peace from your visit. Don't tell too many about me!
