Geocache Description:

Parking available, short level hike on trap rock and dirt trail.

Cache is a small lock and lock.

While online looking at River walks in Simsbury I spotted info about the cache area so while scouting out other possible cache hiding spots on the bike I found it. I stopped back the next day with a container.

The Farmington Canal, running from Northampton, MA to New Haven, Ct. It was in operation between 1827 - 1848 when it was replaced by the rail road.

The canal was 36 feet wide at the top, 20 feet wide at the bottom and 4 feet deep.

The town web sight describes it as "a nicely preserved section of the canal, with paths and some benches for sitting".

The back side trail is over grown with some trees down on one end and the canal a slimy green.
