OH NO! THE PIRATES INVADED ROCK HALL IN AUGUST AND THE TOWNSPEOPLE HAD TO QUICKLY HIDE THEIR LOOT! THEY DECIDED TO LEAVE IT THERE FOR YOU TO FIND IT!
Welcome to Rock Hall, Maryland. Nicknamed The Pearl of the Chesapeake, Rock Hall is a quaint fishing town that sits picturesquely on the eastern shore of the Chesapeake Bay. This quiet community traces its history to 1707 and the beginnings of the United States, first as an important tobacco port, then later as a major fishing and crabbing center.
Today, Rock Hall is a unique sailing and boating destination, alive with artists, music, entertainment, and known for its many celebrations, festivals, spectacular fireworks, and great food. Come enjoy Rock Hall's natural wildlife settings and a trip back to a simpler time.
Every August Rock Hall hosts a weekend long event known as the Pirates and Wenches festival. During the event the town is invaded by a band of pirates led by the notorious Captain Black. Fearing the arrival of the pirates the townspeople hid their swag in treasure boxes to keep the pirates from looting them. Now they've decided to let you find it!
This is a two stage geocache. Geocachers will be required to find an item at the initial coordinates, copy information from that item, and use that information to decode the final coordinates. The decoded coordinates will lead to the actual cache location. Please watch out for muggles! The size of the cache is LARGE.
You will need some type of transportation to travel from the original coordinates location to the cache location as the distance is greater than most people would care to walk.
Step One: Make your way to the posted coordinates where you will find a rather large, two sided object, with red and blue words written on it. Copy the first red word written on that object.
Step Two: Using the partial coordinates listed below substitute 1 for the first letter of the word, substitute 2 for the second letter of the word, substitute 3 for the third letter of the word and substitute 4 for the fourth letter of the word.
