519's Insanity Series #3 Traditional Cache
akgh519: Was out and about and decided to head up Arctic Valley for some fall colors and to see the fresh white stuff on the mountains. As I approached GZ, I could see that it has changed considerably, the cache is gone and so is the hide! BooHoo! Hiding this one with my twin brother was a very fun day!
Perhaps I will do something new in the area...

519's Insanity Series #3 aka 'the Arctic Valley Park N Grab' is a traditional type micro sized Park n Grab cache located in the Arctic Valley parking area. Every geocacher should have at least one Park n Grab and this one is mine!
This series and cache were named as a result of a conversation I had with another cacher about my hides. He said I could start a series named this with the caches I had already hidden. What fun would that be!?!?!?!?! So, I am hiding more to be in this series!
The caches in this series may be the result of difficulty, terrain or most likely a combination of the two!
WARNING...No cache is worth risking your safety for a smiley. Some of the caches in this series might make you question this. If you do, skip the cache!!
This one should be fairly tame. It is the hide that makes this one insane!! This one will require stealth and I recommend you look for it early, late or in less than the best weather so there wont be to many muggles about.
The cache is accessible from the Glenn Highway after exiting onto Arctic Valley Road. Proceed to the end of the road which ends at the Arctic Valley Ski Area. There is a $5 parking fee that is unique to this location. Your State Park permits do not apply. The gate closes at 10pm so keep this in mind when planning your trip!!
This cache is placed under Chugach State Park Permit #12-004.
Enjoy this one and head up above it to many more caches, a day of skiing, berry picking or hiking. You will enjoy the views of the surrounding mountains and if you get far enough up above this one you will enjoy spectacular views of the Anchorage Bowl, Cook Inlet, Sleeping Lady, Denali, the vintage Nike missile site, Highland Valley and all the peaks surrounding!
