The Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup is a national conservation initiative that allows all Canadians to have a positive impact on their local environment.
More than just a program to pick up trash, we collect valuable data from each cleanup which then allows us to determine the major (and minor) causes of shoreline litter in each region. Collecting the data makes the TD Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup one of the largest contributors to the International Coastal Cleanup in the world.
Cache In Trash Out is an ongoing environmental initiative supported by worldwide geocaching community. Since 2002, geocachers around the world have been dedicated to improving parks and other cache-friendly places. Through these volunteer efforts, we help preserve the natural beauty of our outdoor resources!
The City of Kelowna Adopt a Stream program encourages organizations to make a commitment to our environment. Healthy streams, even very small ones, are an asset to our community. Streams and stream corridors provide 85% of our wildlife species with habitat and also provide valuable spawning and rearing areas for fish. They indirectly affect our drinking water and have a large influence on recreational water quality. The Local Geocaching community has committed to maintain this area for at least two years so look forward to future CITO events.
A sign has been constructed at the site telling everyone that BC Geocachers are maintaining the stream!
Congratulations to all that have participated, and to those that will be helping out this time around.
The group will meet at the Parkinson Rec Center and clean up and down the creek. The Terrain rating is 1.5, as the creek is 1 meter below grade for the entire area. Bring drinking water and wear good shoes. Gloves, bags and tools to be supplied by the City of Kelowna.
