Clearwater has 1 of 3 remaining grain elevators. In the past 20 years or so conventional farmers have been forced to haul their grain greater distances to larger elevators in order to sell their product. The last standing elevator in Clearwater is now owned by the community and not functional. The elevator is now used for communal grain storage. This elevator, built in the 1940's is a historical landmark, and a reminder of the globally changing rural landscape.
