Geocache Description:

At Akaka Falls State Park, located along the northeastern Hamakua Coast, there are two gorgeous waterfalls! A short hike of about 0.4-mile through a rain forest filled with wild orchids, bamboo groves and draping ferns, will take you to it!

The accessible portion of the park lies high on the right shoulder of the deep gorge into which the 442-feet Akaka Falls plunges, and the falls can be viewed from several points along a paved loop trail through the park. Also visible from this trail is 100-foot Kahuna Falls.

Beautiful Akaka Falls is perhaps Hawaii Islands's most famous waterfall. Easily accessible, this hike takes less than an hour. The cache can be found without paying the fee to the entrance of the falls or parking lot.

The cache is a lock and lock small plastic container, which contains a logbook and some goodies. There is also room for coins and small TB's.

Team Hiloshell & Del are willing to maintain this cache for us, for which many thanks!
