Geocache Description:

The ninth of the Gare Hill Ring of caches.
The whole walk is approx 3.5km long.

Small container - when returning the cache, please ensure it is secure and rehide out of site.

Continue on the orginal path in the same direction as before until you reach a fork in the road.
Take the right-hand turning at the fork and keep following the telephone wires!

Before you reach a barrel on the verge to your left hand side, you need to veer off the path into the woodlands to your left . Ground zero is quite deep into the forest, but the ground is relatively clear so the walk should be fine.

As mentioned before, this woodland is a fine example of an unusual type of lowland alder wood. This alder, Alnus glutinosa, is frequent over most of the site, both as coppice and young standards. On the sloping ground, standards of ash and pedunculate oak occur over a mixed coppice of alder, field maple, ash and hazel. In Great Bradley Wood a large area of this woodland type has been thinned and coppiced leaving lightly stocked ash and oak over mainly alder coppice. In examples such as this location, on drier ground, alder gives way to pedunculate oakhazel-ash woodland.

I'm currently looking for people who might be able to help look after my caches whilst I'm away undertaking a doctorate. If you think you might be able to help, please do let me know by contacting me at geocachingjohn@googlemail.com (If you can't help maintain them long term, it would be wonderful if you could take along some spare logs/pencils/etc. to keep these caches alive, just in case)
