There about a dozen caches on the I-275 Bike Trail between the northern end and Eight Mile Road. There is space for two or three dozen more. This is one of a set of four at the north end to start that fill-in. Since I am not sure what order I will place them in I am naming some of them after bicycle manufacturers. This cache is named after the American Star Bicycle Company. This bicycle was invented in 1880 by G. W. Pressey. It was manufactured by the H. B. Smith Machine Company.
This is intended to be a Ride & Grab cache. The cache container is a small camo painted bison tube. You will need a log extractor. Please bring your own pencil or pen.
I have found that a quick and simple log extraction tool can be made from a small paperclip. Straighten one end out. Grab just a small portion (maybe 1/32 of an inch or 1 millimeter) with a long-nose or needle-nose pliers then bend it at a right angle. I have attached one to the cache you can use. Please leave it for the next person.
