Fortress Španjola is important historical monument in Herceg Novi. It is located in notwestern part of town, on the hill Bayer with height of 17 meter. Fort was bilt in XV cen, during the Ottoman rule, the name is from the Spaniards who ruled with town for one year in XV cent, and who rebuilt the fort. Today appearance is from second Ottoman rule in XVI cen. From here you have a magnificent view on the town, as well as Prevlaka, fort Mamula, and entrance in Kotor bay. The interior of the fort is open and accessible to the visitors. There is possibility to climbing to the top of the fort and walk to all four watchtowers. In one of those there is a octogonal pools. In the same watchtowers there are lot of windows. Be careful when walk there !
