Mary MacKiller - Ninja Assassin Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

winterdragon: Looking at the last few logs, I think it's likely that the cache has actually gone, and the couple of finds have been.. unreliable, let's say. As I'm no longer in the area to maintain it, I think it's time to let this one go.

Geocache Description:

An easy cache in memory of a great Australian!

The cache is located near Martial Arts SA.

Growing up in the tough western suburbs of Melbourne, Mary was often caught up in neighbourhood scraps with the local ruffians, and learned how to defend herself against the roughest of them. Knowing that it was likely to only to get tougher, she
dedicated her early years to learning the major fighting styles of the time. She became an proficient wrestler, and an expert boxer, winning the Victorian featherweight trophy for three years in a row.

But word came of new fighting styles from the far east, with exotic names like karate, taekwondo, and jujitsu. Mary decided that she must learn more of these, and travelled to Japan by steamship. After some time, she discovered the brotherhood of shinobi, who accepted her into their clan and taught her the art of ninjutsu. After many years of hard training, she was declared a master of the
ninja jūhakkei, or 18 skills of the ninja.

Returning to Australia, Mary joined the Catholic Church, and was assigned to the Order of The Sudden And Silent Death, one of the many orders dedicated to protecting the church against incursions by the Protestants. Mary's proficiency with the katana and wakizashi
earned her a formidable reputation, and her aim with a shuriken was deadly. As Mary's fame spread, many pleaded with her to teach them the skills of ninjutsu. She finally relented, setting up a school of martial arts on South Road, which still stands today just nearby. Here, she began teaching preschoolers the art of ninjutsu, finding that they made excellent assassins, as nobody suspects a 4 year old. To this day, Martial Arts SA still trains preschoolers to be ninjas.

Sadly, Mary was seriously injured during action on the front in 1852, and had to retire into the more gentle side of the church, concerned with tending to needy people.

Mary MacKiller's famous saying was "Never see a possible hiding place without searching it for enemy spies"

Well..... there was a hiding place here, and something has been done about it!
