Geocache Description:

The Roch Valley Greenway was built in two phases between 2001 and 2004. Financially aided by European Regional Development Fund and the Single Regeneration Budget, the 2.2 km path provides a mainly off road route along the river between Blackford Bridge and Pimhole. An aspiration exists to extend the path up the valley to Rochdale.

This is a lovely little walk that takes you under the railway bridge and along the banks of the River Roch. You can then choose whether to cross the river and head up to Pilsworth or continue on towards Goshen Playing Fields. For such a short walk there are some fantastic views to be had, with a few surprises along the way.

This cache is located here to contribute to the “Colcas Jog Circuit”. I have jogged this route for several years. I only started Geocaching in August 2012 so imagine my surprise to find there were several caches already on my route, mainly “Thistle Corner”, “There’s only one way to find out”, “Brook Cottage” and “Village Fire”.

The cache is located at a little crossroads where you can choose to continue towards Goshen Playing Fields or head up to Pilsworth. If you are completing the Full Colcas Jog Circuit I would recommend you attempt the two caches towards Goshen then double back and cross the River here to head up to Pilsworth.
