Geocache Description:

This event will be held at the Escalante’s Mexican Restaurant, (Near Meyerland Plaza) at Beechnut & 610, in the S.W. corner, of the 610 loop, from 4:15pm-7pm-ish. Come on over after work and hang out, talk about geocaching, and have a bite to eat, or a Margarita. Look for us in the front bar area of the restaurant. Please post to this page or email me as early as you can.

This event was to have been originally called "Any 'ol Monday in The Armpit of the Universe, 'CEPT THE FIRST MONDAY!," (inspired by the Beaumont cacher's, "First Mondays in Beaumont") but there wasn't enough room. After several events, folks just called it "Any 'ol Monday." It has been shortened A.'O.M. for this event to leave space for a cute title that has nothing at all to to do with anything except to keep the host from getting bored typing in the same humdrum title every time we have one of these events...

2010 went down in local geocaching history as the year without an A'OM. My schedule just didn't fit with this venue. 2012 almost slipped bye without one too, but better late than never.

This event will probably remain verrry infrequent. There are tons of events in the Houston area now (that wasn't the case when this one started) and one of my favorites, WCFF, is on Monday night once a month which pretty much relegates this one to whenever I get a wild hair. Maybe once or twice a year. First Mondays are no longer off limits. Beaumont is almost 100 miles away, so there's no real competition anymore especially with gas nearing $4 bucks a gallon again.

I'm not abandoning this venue. My GeoCasual Friday lunch hour events are being held here now. Frequently infrequent as usual.

Everyone really enjoyed the last 21 events (That's 20 official and 1 "No Smiley, Just Smiles" event.) that I held here. (I still can't believe the turnout we get for a Monday night event.) I even held my rehearsal wedding dinner here. I've honestly lost track. I've hosted a lot of events here and I'll leave it at that from now on.

The prices are reasonable and the food and service are excellent. BTW - The white chedder queso is to die for!!! YUMM!
