Geocache Description:

If you can avoid shredding your skin on the blackberry bushes, this should be a pretty quick find.

Back in the 70's when kids used to play outside all day and there were lots of kids around here, this ravine was a busy place. I probably walked (and ran!) a thousand times from what's now Nordel way down to the McAdam Creek cache. I didn't know what the creek was called (everybody just called it "the gulley"), but I knew every twist and turn and every protruding root along the well used path. Usually, I only went as far as the creek. Sometimes I continued on to an old disused portion of River Road where there was a huge and scary rope swinging out 10m above the ground.

So to find GC35YJR McAdam Creek I decided to repeat a route I haven't taken in 30 years. Wow! Has it changed! I couldn't even find a way in from Nordel/Shepherd Way, but persevered and found a spot with only a bit of blackberry and forced my way in. I navigated by memory, bushwacking the whole way until I found a disused remnant of the old path. I was able to speed up for a while... then more bushwacking to GZ. I bushwacked my way back to the trail I came in on and had a fairly easy ascent, almost back to Nordel Way... but still had troubles finding a way out of the bush and practically crawled between the branches to freedom.

This cache is placed close to my exit point. Watch out for blackberry bushes.

If anyone wants to try finding GC35YJR from here it can be done, but I wouldn't recomend it.

Did I mention blackberry?? If you are lucky, someone has already cut their way through it. If not, you will have to make your own path. Or take a longer route. If you follow McAdam Creek and approach the cache from the north there won't be any blackberry at all. But really...10m of blackberry isn't that inpenetrable. I've gone through 100m and more of blackberry to find other caches. If you want monotonous park & grabs just skip this one. If you want a challenge just come prepared and it's really not that difficult.
