Geocache Description:

Why Use GSAK?

Date: November 17th, 2012
Time: 9:30am - 11:30 am (and beyond)
Location: Oxley Nature Center in Mohawk Park

Details:
This Month's meeting will be held in the meeting room at Oxley Nature Center in Mohawk Park. This is a great place to sit down, relax and share. We will be discussing Geocaching topics in general, reviewing our Fall Fest event and then taking some time to share how to plan Geocaching outings using Pocket Queries* and the GSAK (Geocaching Swiss Army Knife) program.

Looking back it has been nearly 2 and a half years since our last in-depth look at Pocket Queries* and GSAK.  This would be a good time for a refersher for some and an introduction for others.  With recent changes/improvements to the Geocacing.com webstite, Statistics, Favorite Points, Queries using Attribues, Caches along a route, Live APIs and Smart Phone apps, etc. some have questioned if use of a program like GSAK is even necessary.  It certainly has it's benifits.  Start here!
No need for anyone to be intimidated.  Discussions will be on many levels and questions are always welcome.  There will be general Geocacing discussion as well, Travel bug swaping and discovery, etc.

Everyone with an interest in Geocaching is invited; novice, beginner or seasoned veteran. Come with questions, stories, etc.. You don’t have to have a GPSr to attend. Meet the names behind the logs!

*Pocket Queries are available on geocacing.com as a Premium Member feature.

After this exciting session anyone interested is welcome to explore the many geocaches in Oxley Nature Center and Mohawk Park. Some of us may take this opportunity to do some upgrades and trail maintenance on the Geo Skills Trail.

And from 1 to 2 p.m. Oxley Naturalist Donna Horton, of the Tribe of Two, will be leading a class in Letterbox Stamp Carving. For all the details on this and other Nature Center programs check out the latest Newsletter.

Mohawk Park's gates open at 7 am and close at 9 pm! In November there is no entry fee.  Pets are not allowed on the Nature Center trails, but leashed ones can enjoy other parts of Mohawk Park.

Special Thanks to the

and ONC Nature Center Staff for allowing us use of the meeting room.
