Salmon Arm is located approximately half-way between Vancouver BC and Calgary AB along the Trans-Canada highway.
A small but thriving town of nearly 20,000 residents, Salmon Arm's population swells during the summer as a very popular destination for visitors. With it's extensive trail systems and incredibly scenic locations, Salmon Arm boasts a thriving geocaching community and it's close proximity to the nearby geocaching hotspots of Kamloops, Vernon and Kelowna make it a perfect geocaching destination. There are over 1000 geocaches within 80km (50 miles) of the event site, enough to keep even the most prolific geocachers very busy!
Geocaches & Prizes
The official event will get started at 8:00am sharp at the listed coordinates.
At the event, you will have the opportunity to sign the log book, view or share trackables, meet & greet with other cachers. There will also be a prize draw if we can get enough donations (if you're interested in donating any prizes please contact us)

Meet & Greet
The event will get underway at 8:00am sharp so PLEASE be on time! You will want to plan to arrive half an hour early if you want to view the trackables and/or pre-load your GPS with the geocaches.
This will also be your chance to sign the event logbook, meet other cachers, swap geocaching stories, and get the low-down on other geocaches in the area.
Geocaches
Like the previous MCD event, there will be a large number of caches placed that will be published in concert with this event. They will not be published until after the event begins, therefore odds are high that you can score several FTF's on this day - hence the name "Mass Cache Dash"!
Volunteers will be on hand with laptops to assist with distributing the geocache lists which will be available in both GPX and printed (booklet) form. If you wish, you may bring a laptop and load the caches onto your GPS yourself, or you can have a volunteer help you out. Like last time, booklets with all of the cache details will be available (for a small donation to cover printing costs) that contain all of the relevant details about the caches.
Wrap-up Event
At 8:00PM there will be a wrap-up event where we will award the FTF prizes and have a prize draw. It's also a good opportunity to wind down and swap geocaching stories with other cachers. This part of the event isn't mandatory to attend, so if you're up a forest service road enjoying some back-country caching and you can't make it back in time, don't sweat it.
CITO
At approximately 8:30PM, following the wrap-up event, we will be hosting a CITO to clean up the area. We want to leave the event site as clean or cleaner than when we arrived, so if you have the time, please pitch in and help make this a reality. Plus you can also log the CITO for another find for the day!
Trackables
If you collect trackables (or even if you just have a few that you've picked up and like to share), please bring them along to show at the event. If you have a sizable geocoin collection, please print off a list of codes to make it easy on those wanting to log your trackables.
If you've picked up any trackables in your travels, this event is a good opportunity to pass them along to another cacher to move along, or drop them in a local cache. So dust off those TB's and coins - others want to see them!
Parking
There is a parking lot adjacent to the event site with paid parking, but the first hour of parking is free. You do still, however, need to get a ticket from the machine to get your free hour of parking. If you plan to be there longer than an hour, the parking rate is actually very cheap.

Getting Here
The event site is located centrally in Salmon Arm at the waterfront near the wharf. Parking is usually fairly ample, especially early in the morning. You can either park on the street near the site, or in the parking lot adjacent to the event site (first hour of parking is free!)
You will definitely want a vehicle to find most of the caches for this event. While there are plenty of caches within walking distance, the majority of new caches will require transportation to reach. If you have a 4x4, quad or a dirtbike, you may want to consider bringing them as there are caches hidden for the event on Mt. Ida and Fly Hills.
