Geocache Description:

If you've cared for your 'pet' rock since the 1970's, they'd be this big now! Here's a cute couple. Of course a bit wrinkled and worn now... LOL Mostly well used gravel trail through the park to reach this cache. It is uphill to the cache, <1/2 mile.  When trial splits high up on the hill, near hide site, head left keeping gorge to stream on your left.  Cache is nearby pet rocks that offer a unique photo op if you bring friends. You can create GIANTS here! CITO.

Laurel Hollow - Now, a lovely little park being consistantly improved. Literally a 100 acre park. Must SEE kiosk at entrance to truely understand what your about to experience. It's past is that of an abandoned Zoo, originally opened in the very early 1900's and suddenly aboandoned in 1912, untouched for nearly a century. Please see www.laurelhollowpark.net for alot of very good and well kept information about the park and it's rich history.  Including many photos.  A visit to this website will greatly enhance your visit to the park. A wide variety of wildlife is abundant throughout.

GRAB a CITO Bag at this cache!
Thank You to the Newell Community Improvement Coaltition (NCIC) their support to place this series of caches. Since about 2009? they have leased the property from the gracious Homer Laughlin China Co..
They have since improved the park remarkably! Look for the Squirrel Cottage, The Bears Den(held polar bears), the Circular Flower Garden, Stone Bridge & Tunnel, Laurel Spring( 4?) and a few other remnants remain.  BBQ grills & picnic tables are available.  Park is open dawn to dusk.  Responsible Dog walking on leash is welcome.  Much seating is available throughout the park.
******Congrats to 'The Cache~eer' for FTF. Thanks a bunch for the CITO contribution. CITO in this park Will regularly be Rewarding! Photobucket ***LHP Trail Map photo kidsforcedperspective2.jpg ### Great photo op here. The above is an example of 'forced perspective'. Forced perspective is a technique that employs optical illusion to make an object appear farther away, closer, larger or smaller than it actually is. It is used primarily in photography, filmmaking and architecture. It manipulates human visual perception through the use of scaled objects and the correlation between them and the vantage point of the spectator or camera. It can be accomplished with ANY camera. Simply place your subjects in the correct locations and shoot the correct angle. You'll might find little red 1"dots to help with placement. It will make sense when you see it. The stone creates a natural platform for the forward subject. Great reason to cache with friends on this one. Have Fun! Please post your pics!
