We spent our summer holiday in Ellenabeich and were surprised that this lovely place does not have any cache.
So this cache is a thank you for three lovely weeks in Ellenabeich.
Ellenabeich is the principal village of Seil. It lies below the black slate cliffs of Dun Mor.
Easdale is a tiny island, which you can reach by a small ferry for a low fare. To get to the Cache it is not necessery to go to Easdale, but I can only recommend to visit the island.
The villages of Ellenabeich and Easdale were the centre of the Scottish Slate Industry until a terrible storm flooded the deep quarry holes in year 1881. Today the flooded quarries will give you good contrast to the black slate cliffs. The rows of white workers cottages, which are lovingly restored today, look unchanged like 1881.
If you search a while you will find pyrite crystals in the slate around the two villages.
I will load up some pictures, which will tell you more as words.
To find the cache you need to climb the hill behind Ellenabeich. It will give you a masterfull view over Ellenabeich and the near island Easdale.
Many thanks to Sgnaglepuss for helping me to get the cache published and as well congratualions to him for the First Find.
