Geocache Description:

'Zulus' came to Strathblane in 1982 when Monty Python arrived to shoot their film 'The Meaning of Life'.

The scene,  in Part III - Fighting each other - involved a "remake" of the heroic defence of Rorke's Drift by British soldiers in 1879, immortalised in the film "Zulu" starring Michael Caine.
It made front page news of the Glasgow Herald, on Friday 13 and Saturday 14 Aug 1982, when 150 African and Asians went on the war path over the costumes they had to wear. The ibheshu (a type of loincloth) was not only not suited to the Scottish climate, but the many Muslims recruited (as Glasgow did not have a huge population of Africans at the time) found it humiliating and degrading! However, after 70 extras walked out, 100 overzealous Glaswegians volunteered to be "blacked up" in grease paint to complete the shoot. And they got paid £24 for it!

For the cache - walk up Campsie Dene Road (the water track) to the end of the houses and take a right up the farm track. It's a good surface all the way to the cache (but boots are still recommended).

Congratulations to Jokeroo for First to Find!
