Geocache Description:

Our 1st cache! We figured we'd keep it in our "backyard."

This cache is located along the esplanade. On many nights we will sit on the benches out back and watch the sunset as it reflects off the buildings and river. At the right time of year, you can watch it disappear slowly behind Lady Liberty. Often it provides a feeling of being on vacation. Especially after a long day at work.

This is a micro cache. It contains a 1970 penny and a log ONLY. Please bring a pen or pencil. Please leave the penny as identification for the cache.

The Esplanade

The Esplanade runs the entire length of Battery Park City, along the Hudson River from Stuyvesant High School on the north end all the way south to Historic Battery Park.

The Esplanade was designed by the Authority, Cooper, Eckstut Associates, and Hanna/Olin, Ltd. With its views of the Hudson River and New York Harbor, the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, and the New Jersey shoreline, the Esplanade is a pedestrian paradise. Parks and gardens line the entire route, along with numerous sculptures and public art installations.

This is an easy stroll along the Hudson and very kid friendly. We hope you enjoy it!
