Each of the 33 caches is named for a Manitoba community. Most are traditional caches. Two are multi caches where the final is hanging in a shrub directly across the road from the given coordinates. (Read that last sentence again to be sure you understand.) Ten of the caches are puzzles. There are ditches to cross and they may occasionally be wet or snowy - dress accordingly. Above all, we encourage you to enjoy this beautiful area with its multitude of kettle lakes (prairie sloughs) and the critters that call them home.
The city of Selkirk, Named for the Scottish 5th Earl of Selkirk Thomas Douglas, is situated on the Red River north of Winnipeg. Lord Selkirk had obtained the grant to establish a colony in the area. Home of the Marine Museum of Manitoba, the city advertises itself as the Catfish Capital of the World and sports a 25-foot statue of a catfish.
