The ancient Trummery Old Church in Maghaberry is now in ruins, only the west gable is still standing and some parts of the walls. The graveyard is preserved and shows evidence of more modern burials. The site once held a round tower approximately 60 feet in height, but very little remains of it today.
Please read killultagh’s excellent bit of history about Trummery Old Church and Tower on his cache "Maghaberry (not Megaberry)" GC3VARJ
There is ample space to park a car at a layby on the opposite side of the road from the entrance to the graveyard.
This narrow road is surprisingly busy, and cars can approach at speed, so please take special care and be aware of traffic at all times.
The cache is a micro in a larger camouflage containing only a log roll, so please bring your own pen.
The Church Micro IE series is open to everyone; if you have a church you would like to place a cache at then please contact THE_Chris through Geocaching.com. This is to keep track of the numbers of the churches and give you the general format for the cache page. In the UK there are ~1500 caches in the series so we have some catching up to do! Also, if you currently have a published cache at a church that you would like to include in the series, get in contact and we can add it.
