The village is bypassed by the new A590 which curves gracefully up the side of Newton Fell, but at one time, this steep hill in the village was the main road. Buses and lorries struggled up the hill making noise and fumes. Lindale is now a fairly quiet and peaceful place. In more recent times, High Newton has also benefited from further road building.
Several delights can be found in the village, including refreshments, accommodation and lots of historic buildings. A good water source is probably one reason the village is where it is, and further up The Gill you can see a stream rushing down the hill. Just here at the cache site is a handy old trough providing water, great for geohounds! Lindale is also the last resting place of Iron Mad Wilkinson and several other caches can be found on a pleasant walk around the village.
Please note:
- the cache is not on any private property
- nothing needs damaging or climbing or anything similar
- no stones need moving
- replace as found/carefully
- don't spoil anything for others in your log
You can usually park right by the cache unless there's a rush on at the PO. A little bit of stealth could be good and please don't block the pavement while searching.
We hope you enjoy the cache!
