Geocache Description:

The cache is a black tape wrapped micro container help in place with magnets. Parking for a couple of cars is available at ground zero.

This cache replaces one I had here some years ago but the original hiding place is filled with rubbish. I have put a "decoy" container close to the real one which has no log and no chance of having a log. Bonus points for finding this as well but the clue wont help.

General Philip H Sheridan

The cache takes you to the birth place of Philip Henry Sheridan, know as Little Phil for he stood 5' 5" and .

He was the son of Irish immigrants John and Mary Sheridan. He received an appointment to West Point in 1848 graduating 34th of 52 students.

8 years later by the start of the Civil War he had only reached the rank of 1st Lt. By May of the following year he had risen to Col partly through the patronage of his friend General Sherman. Following his first action with his regiment he was promoted to Brig General by September of the same year.

He was well regarded for his abilities during the rest of the Civil War and following it's end he was dispatched to command a 50,000 man army along the mexican border. By 1867 he was a Lt. General. Between 1874 and 1880 he fought a number of campaigns against the Indians.

In 1883 he succeeded Sherman as Commander of the US Army and in 1888 he was promoted General Of The army just prior to his death following a series of heart attacks.
