A micro in the bush? You must be joking! Yes, it’s a tricky cache to mark the anniversary of my first find. This is at an interesting natural sight, of a large dead tree that has snapped in two and is somehow wedged between the leftover main trunk and a branch with a smaller diameter than a fist. I found this with a couple friends and sometimes come here for a short bushwalk.
First before the cache is some directions on getting to gz. Take either Tapely Road from the Ridgeway, or for the adventurous ones, Maidens Brush road. Both roads are at the moment 2wd accessible, but Maidens Brush is a steep patchy/couple-pothole tar road. Park at either 01 or 06 then walk down maidens brush fire trail to the track head 02. Walk around the gate and go straight ahead for about 150-200m. Trail will then veer to the left a bit, so follow this. Then after another 100m find the cache (this might take a little while). Then, hopefully finding the cache and feeling successful, continue to follow the trail up the hill. It will turn into an open area with a couple of trees. This is what I’m guessing is a bit of a firebreak. At 04 take the track through back through to 05 which is out onto the main fire trail around here. Turn left and go up to 06. From here make your way back to your car.
Now for the cache. I’m not giving out too many clues as I would like this to be challenging but hopefully not too frustrating THERE IS NO NEED TO GO UNDERNEATH THE CROSS TREE TO FIND THIS ONE. But when replacing please make sure that the colours match up. Also watch out for something that might trick even the best of detectives.
Finally, a huge thanks to my dad for being part of the team in both the crafty container (which we both think is our best yet).If there are fires or a very high risk of fire on the central coast, don’t attempt the cache as this is one of the most fire prone areas on the coast. Also feel free to post any pics of the tree and the walk in but KEEP THE PICTURES OF THE CACHE CONTAINER TO YOURSELF! And finally, remember to take in the sights too as this is the purpose behind geocaching.
Happy Caching!
