Aston Ingham church is dedicated to St. John the Baptist. It was built in the 13th century and it’s first Rector was instituted in 1310. The tower was added later in the 16th century.
In 1890 the church underwent a complete restoration which involved dismantling the old church and rebuilding it with what you see today. The tower is the only survivor of the rebuild.
The church is now part of the Ariconium Benefice which comprises six churches.
The tower houses six bells, the heaviest bell being the tenor and weighs a little over 5 cwt.
The church is open daily.
The cache is a home-crafted item containing a logbook only , please replace carefully. Thanks to the Rector and the PCC for allowing this cache to be placed.
While you are here why not seek one of the answers to the Ariconium Quest (GC4BFMP)?
Temporary cache pot in place and hint adjusted for assistance. Please replace out of sight.
“If anybody would like to expand to this series please do, I would just ask that you could let Sadexploration know first so he can keep track of the Church numbers and names to avoid duplication.
There is also a Church Micro Stats page found via the Bookmark list”
