Linton, St Mary is an attractive church with some interesting architecture inside. It also has some very old and impressive Yew trees in its churchyard.
There has been a church here at least since Norman times and is recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086. The church as we see it today began to take shape in the 12th century and continued to develop through the 13th and 14th centuries.
The church saw ‘drastic’ renovation in 1875 that eventually came to a conclusion in 1879.
There are six bells in the tower where the tenor weighs just over 8 cwt.
The church is open daily and is one of the six churches in the Ariconium Benefice.
