Geocache Description:

In 1983 a young Alan Robson started presenting a local radio late night phone in show "Night Owls" from the metro radio studio's located on longrigg road, in swalwell.

Now almost 30 years later the studio's have long since moved, but the original building is still there. Now used as a variety of office space, this buildings history is almost forgotten.
Night Owl's is one of Britain’s most listened to shows on commercial radio. Alan’s NightOwl’s show won World's Best Talk Show in the New York Radio Awards.
Alan Robson was awarded an MBE for services to broadcasting and is without doubt the most well known radio broadcaster in the north east.
This cache is located, close to the original building where he pesented night owl's show for so many years.
And where his well known catch phrases, such as whipping out his whats'it, the night owl netty and GET TO THOSE PHONES, were coined.

This is my tribute to an undoubtably living legend of radio broadcasting, The Flashing Blade, Alan Robson MBE.

The Cache container is a small magnetic container, with an official geocache label on the front for easy identification.
Cache contains a log book & small pencil.
